The community of Eldon, Iowa, home of the little white house in Grant Wood’s most famous painting American Gothic, celebrates Gothic Days in June. The American Gothic House Center invites students and members of the public to participate in our annual art contest.
This contest is sponsored by the Ottumwa Area Arts Council and the American Gothic House Center.
Rules of Art Work:
· Must include the American Gothic House window in some form
· 8” x 10” or larger work- must be original AND display ready (mounted)
· NO NAMES on the front of the artwork
· Any medium EXCEPT photography
· Is limited to two pieces of art work per person
· Art work must be submitted with entry form and received by May 24th, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
· All art work will be on display inside the American Gothic House or Center June 7th through the 9th, 2024
· No entry fee required
· Awards will be $40 for first place and $20 for second place in each division PLUS one $60 gift certificate from the American Gothic House Center gift shop for Best in Show
· First place winners and Best in Show may be displayed in the American Gothic House Center until April of the subsequent year
