Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Citywide Celebration

The Robert F. Kennedy-Maritn Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee presents: Having a Dream in the American Dream. Featuring keynote speaker Dr. David Brown.

Dr. David Brown is a secondary school educator with a PhD in Education Administration. He has spent the past three decades as a scholar and educator, administrator, and community leader. 

Dr. Brown graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois where he earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in History. Dr. Brown went to The University of Iowa to earn his Masters of Arts in African American World Studies and Special Education. While attending the University of Iowa, Dr. Brown also earned his PhD in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies. Since earning his PhD, Dr. Brown has gained his English Language Arts Endorsement and has taught African American Literature at the Secondary Level. His interests are focused on building resiliency, school culture, diversity, and supporting at-risk youth. He enjoys instructional supervision and coaching teachers to foster a more engaged critical thinking classroom. 

There will be several special guests in addition to the following local choirs: The Ottumwa Christian School, Evans Middle School, Ottumwa High School Meister Singers, IHCC Chamber Choir, and the Ottumwa Area Community Choir.
