The League of United Latin American Citizens in Ottumwa is inviting the community to a fun-filled, family-friendly event on February 20 from 3-5 p.m. at the UAW Hall, 205 N. James Street in Ottumwa. The event is free, and the purpose is for Ottumwans to celebrate the diversity in the community and all diverse backgrounds. There will be a Pinata and Loteria games, as well as desserts provided by the LULAC Youth.
LULAC was started in 1929 and is the oldest nonpolitical Latin organization in the United States. Our mission is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States.
LULAC377 Ottumwa was started in 2018 and it focuses on leadership development and fundraising for scholarships. LULAC377 will hold the 4th Annual Viva Ottumwa International Festival in September.
