On Eagles' Wings - Wapello County's Wildlife Weekend

Join Meet Ottumwa and Wapello County Conservation for a day of watching Bald Eagles on the Des Moines River, talking with experts in wildlife and conversation, seeing animals up close and personal, and learning more about what species are native to Wapello County. This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.

8-10 a.m. - Bird Watching on the Des Moines River lead by bird specialist Kelly McKay

9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Presenters' Booths Open in the lobby

10 a.m. - Speaker: Russ Benedict - Bat Specialist (Wapello County Children's Alliance Room)

10 a.m. - Speaker: Kelly McKay - Bird Specialist (Wapello County Heritage Foundation Room)

11 a.m. - Bald eagle presentation from SOAR with live bald eagle (theater)

11 a.m. - Iowa State Insect Zoo hands on demonstration (First Choice Family Practice Room)

12:15 p.m. - Activity: Story Time with the Ottumwa Public Library & Wapello County Conservation (Wapello County Children's Alliance Room)

12:15 p.m. - Speaker: David Yunker - Wildlife Photographer (Wapello County Heritage Foundation Room)

1:15 p.m. -Bald eagle presentation from SOAR with live bald eagle (theater)

1:15 p.m. - Iowa State Insect Zoo hands on demonstration (First Choice Family Practice Room)
