Located in Ottumwa Central Park, this historic monument was erected in 1919 and crafted by artist David Edstrom. The striking structure features a 25-foot pillar, complete with a bronze eagle perched at its peak. Surrounding the base, you'll find four bas relief panels titled Going to War, Battle, Death, and Reconstruction. Notably, on the monument's south side, facing the park, you'll find the names of over 2400 soldiers and sailors from the region who served in the Civil War.
