Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, and if you’re like us, you’re planning on celebrating the weekend before. Who wouldn’t love a four-day celebration? Lucky for you we have compiled some great ideas for a romantic weekend for two in Ottumwa.

The first thing you want to do is see what valentine-related events are happening in the area, and there are several. You’re sure to find something that you and your loved one will want to do together. There’s a Valentine-themed haunted house, live music at the Temple of Creative Arts, a boutique crawl and the American Home Findings Chocolate Lovers event.

Before or after a fun event, you can treat your better half to a romantic dinner. Ottumwa is home to several dining options, so there’s sure to be something to suit your cravings. Grab drinks at the Tom-Tom Tap, get dinner at one of the dozens of restaurant options like Appanoose Rapids, Jade Palace or Bubba-Q’s, and then grab dessert at Ashbys.

For those who want to celebrate on Valentine's Day itself, you are also in luck. Bridge View Center is hosting a Valentine’s Day dinner in their lobby. The dinner will include a four-course meal and a cash bar. While you’re there, don’t forget to buy tickets for your next date night. Bridge View has several shows coming up in the next few months, including The Hall Sisters, Skid Row & Buckcherry, The Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra, Oh What a Night and Hairball.
